Recreational Riding - Club

The KU Cycling Club is a social club which facilitates bicycle riding for University of Kansas students. The KU Club represents KU Cycling on campus and in the community with community service projects and student group rides. The KU Club is a non-competitive organization that focuses on educating students about bicycles, facilitating bicycle riding, and representing the bicycle community at the University of Kansas. During group rides we ask that you wear a helmet at all times when riding (required for riding with the club), and are respectful especially while wearing our team kit.

To become a member of KU Cycling you must pay your dues to the Recreation Center located on 1407 Watkins Center Drive in the office to the far right as you walk through the front doors,  our dues are $35 for Fall/Spring Club Membership.

Racing - Team

KU Cycling is a Sport Club through the University of Kansas which within USA Cycling’s  North-Central Collegiate Cycling Conference (NCCCC). The KU Cycling Team is the premiere competitive bicycle racing team at the University of Kansas. Team members have the opportunity to compete in one of four skill-leveled categories. Category “D” is the beginner category and may contain individuals that are racing their first race or slightly more experienced riders who have been racing for 1-2 years. The intermediate category “C” is one step above the D-cats and features slightly longer races. Category “C” is for riders with an increased skill level, typically with 1-3 years of experience. Categories “B” and “A” are the advanced and expert levels, respectively, of collegiate racing. Racers with 2-5 years of experience are best suited for these two categories. Only category “A” riders may qualify to compete in collegiate nationals. Road race season starts in March and ends in May with conference championships and national championships. Racing dues are $55 for the Spring Semester.

Register to Race:

Register through usacycling.org then purchase either a collegiate license OR purchase a racing license and add the Collegiate license on for free.  Most of our riders purchase the Road Racing license and then add on the Collegiate license.

To race with the University of Kansas, you must be a dues paying member and you must have an official KU Cycling Kit (Jersey and Shorts/Bibs).

We compete against: Kansas State University, Iowa State University, University of Iowa, University of Minnesota, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of North Dakota, Minnesota State University-Mankato, St. Olaf College, Carlton College, Saint Cloud State University, University of Minnesota-Duluth, and Creighton University.
